What is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is a natural compound extracted from the hemp plant. It is non-intoxicating and legal with no psychoactive effects. CBD is one of over 100 chemical compounds, known as cannabinoids in the hemp plant.
CBD is different from tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. THC is a cannabinoid that has a psychoactive effect on the body and results in a ‘high’. Our CBD contains no trace of THC and is sourced from hemp organically grown in the EU.
The increased interest in cannabidiol (CBD) has come from its potential effects in the body. The recent research is exciting but not being medical professionals we can't and won't ever make medical claims about CBD. Data shows that the main reasons why people use CBD are for pain, anxiety, insomnia and skin conditions. Many people are using it as a natural way to support the mind and body without any psychoactive effects.
Understanding how CBD works
Just like the hemp plant contains cannabinoids, the human body has its own system of cannabinoids and receptors called the ‘endocannabinoid’ system (ECS). This complex cell-signalling network is a collection of cell receptors found in the brain, organs and other tissues and plays a key role in mood regulation, immune function, pain, sleep, memory, gut function, fertility, reproduction and temperature regulation. Whilst research continues into the ECS, it is understood that CBD works by interacting with this system, binding to certain receptors such as serotonin receptors, known to influence pain, anxiety, mood, and sleep.

Our products involve minimal processing, leading to a CBD oil that is rich in cannabinoids with a high concentration of terpenes, flavonoids, and other plant nutrients with 0% THC. Some CBD oil extraction methods use gases, solvents and heat, but by using the most natural extraction process, cold pressing preserves all the plant compounds to provide the purest, most natural oil available; this enhances its efficacy and therapeutic benefits based upon the 'entourage effect' where the plant compounds perform more effectively in combination than when isolated.
What is the entourage effect?
The entourage effect is a theory popularised by Dr. Ethan Russo, which suggests that all compounds within the cannabis matrix work together synergistically to increase therapeutic potential. According to this theory, instead of isolating certain compounds such as using only CBD isolate to make a tincture, by preserving the variety of compounds that are inherent in the plant (like terpenes and other cannabinoids) you can increase the efficacy and therapeutic benefits of the product.

The use of CBD for certain conditions and issues is heavily researched.
